What TextToCSV is

TextToCSV is a free collection of browser-based tools for converting between text and CSV. It started from a simple frustration: most “online converters” upload your file to a server, hide useful options behind sign-ups, or quietly mangle your data. We wanted a converter that is fast, private and genuinely complete.

How it works

Every conversion runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. When you paste text or choose a file, the data is read and transformed on your own device and is never uploaded to us or anyone else. That makes the tools safe for confidential exports, customer lists and internal data, and it means they keep working even offline once a page has loaded.

Why it is free

The tools are free because they are simple to run — there is no server doing the conversion and no file storage to pay for. The site is supported by unobtrusive advertising, which lets us keep every feature available to everyone without a paywall or account.

How we test

The conversion engine is checked against the standard CSV rules — quoted fields, embedded commas and line breaks, escaped quotes — and against real-world cases like tab, pipe and fixed-width input, JSON, and Excel’s habit of reformatting numbers. We verify that what you download re-imports cleanly into spreadsheets and databases.
